About EEG NeuroMeditation:
Research and practice in meditation show us that not all meditations are the same. In this workshop, we will explore five different styles of meditation based on the role of attention, intention, brainwave states and brain regions involved; these styles include Focus, Mindfulness, Open Heart, Quiet Mind, and Deep States. Using client goals and concerns, we can identify which practices might be best suited for specific individuals.
Focus practices specifically encourage improved concentration and reduced distractability.
Mindfulness practices have the greatest impact on stress and anxiety.
Open Heart targets mood concerns and empathy building.
Quiet Mind strategies may be ideal for addictions, affect regulation/ personality-based concerns.
Deep States can be helpful in relaxing defense mechanisms and integrating subconscious material.
This workshop will help attendees learn how to select a meditation style based on clients presenting concerns and provide a host of practical strategies for each of the meditative styles. As part of this workshop, you will receive both 2-channel and sLORETA neuromeditation protocols for each meditation style and have time to practice with each one between training sessions.
The format of this training will include:
3 group meetings spread out over 3 months
2 semi-private mentoring sessions (2-3 people).
Each of the group meetings will be 4.5 hours in length, cover the basic didactic material and provide demonstrations of the protocols discussed.
Group-size will be limited to 12 people to allow in-depth discussion, questions, and interaction during the meetings.
As part of the training you will receive all of the BrainMaster protocols along with handouts, and a PDF of the powerpoint deck.
Between meetings, you will work with the meditation styles covered in the previous session and participate in semi-private mentoring sessions with the Instructor. The mentoring sessions will be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time(s) and designed to help clarify, fine-tune, problem solve, or consult based on your specific needs.
Dates and Topics for the 3 Group Sessions (conducted through Zoom):
Friday April 3, 8:00-12:30 PST: Introduction, Overview, Choosing a Style, Focus Style
Friday May 1, 8:00-12:30 PST: Mindfulness & Open Heart Styles
Friday May 29, 8:00-12:30 PST: Quiet Mind & Deep States Styles
Required Equipment Access & Volunteer Subject:
Because of the distance format, it will be important that you have equipment and volunteer subjects to work with between sessions. We currently have pre-designed protocols for BrainAvatar (2-channel and sLORETA), BioTrace+ and New Mind systems. In addition, the protocols can be created in any 2 channel EEG software that allows you to do amplitude training.
FAQ:
Which Neurofeedback Systems Can I Use? Any neurofeedback system that allows you to do 2 channel amplitude training. We currently have pre-designed protocols for BrainMaster Avatar (2 channel and sLORETA), New Mind, BioTrace+, and Mind Body Health software. Protocols for EEGer will be available very soon.
Can I attend if I have never done neurofeedback before? It is up to you. If you choose to attend with no background, it is strongly recommended that you purchase equipment and receive separate mentoring related to neurofeedback basics.
Can I enroll and just watch the videos "on demand? No. We are not offering this option at this time. We believe the interaction with the instructor and other students is an important part of the learning.
